“I've had mine for a couple of weeks or so and now don't want to play without it. It brings guitars/cords and everything to LIFE!! The gain function is wonderful, esp when you want a little more out of 2 and 4 strat positions or to push a lead pedal or amp channel. The 'pickup tuning' control is very useful for lead tones. I keep it off for clean, but for lead tones, dialing it back 2-3 notches gives me that woody/throaty tone when in front of a med to high gain pedal/amp (similar to the tone that my .0033 tone cap gives me). Even with the gain and pickup tuning off, just having the unit there, on, takes the blanket (that you didn't realize was there) off your tone. I use it at home and have used it at 4 band practices. “Just a word to tell you how pleased I am with the ToneFRĒQ Acoustic. I did plug it to my electric upright bass and it did a great job of matching impedance, getting a good signal to the amp and adding natural presence to the instrument.... I think it would be a great idea to market it towards double bass players that are looking for simple solutions to match impedance and get a boost from their PU.
After trying it on my electric upright, I plugged the ToneFRĒQ Acoustic on both my Status 6 strings and the result was just amazing. The fretted bass gained life and presence but it's on the fretless that the impact was the most significant. The bass had very low output and lacked presence. I loved the tone but something was missing. Well, your product got it back. I'll keep it on my strap for sure and keep you posted on my test with all my other passive basses.... As I will probably keep the unit on my strap for my electric basses, I will probably contact you for another unit.
